Canal City Realty opened in April 2026. I have been doing this since 2009.
Fourteen years in Dutch real estate, eleven of them in Amsterdam, most recently at Netherlands Sotheby’s International Realty. I went independent because the part of this work that actually matters — knowing your file, being in the room, picking up the phone — kept getting delegated.
That was a deliberate choice, and it is the whole proposition. You get one experienced NVM Register Makelaar from the first valuation to the handover of the keys. No junior colleague taking over halfway through. One number, one inbox, one person who already knows where you are.
Before this I spent four years in Paris, working for a multinational in a language I had to learn properly and negotiating daily with clients around the world. I know the particular tiredness of doing something this important inside a system you did not grow up in.
The Amsterdam market is beautiful, and it is also overwhelming: rules you don’t know, negotiations that run differently than you are used to, and a pace where everything moves just a little faster than you expect. My job is to take that weight off you — to translate the market, not just show you houses.
English is a second mother tongue and I speak fluent French. A good number of my sellers have since relocated to North America, so I answer at hours that suit their time zone, not only mine.
I represent you, never the other side. That means I will tell you when a property is wrong for you, and I won’t push you toward a deal because it suits my month.
The owners of an apartment on Olympiaplein had already moved to Australia. Their tax year gave them a hard deadline, and the flat had been let for several years and looked it. As it stood, it would have sold for less than it was worth — deadline or no deadline.
Under that kind of time pressure the reflex is to list immediately. I did the opposite. I brought in a contractor and a stylist I trust, ran the work and the scheduling from Amsterdam while the owners followed it from the other side of the world, and only then took it to market.
It went under offer in 22 days, above the asking price, and transferred comfortably inside their deadline.
We used Elwin to sell our apartment remotely. He took care of everything and worked efficiently to arrange the sale to meet our expedited timeline. We recommend him highly.

Sold while I was at a previous firm.
Through the NVM network I regularly see homes before they are advertised. In a market this tight, that is often the difference between buying something and still searching.
Whether it is a monumental canal house, an apartment in Zuid or a family home in a quiet street: the process should be calm, clear and in your language. Exactly how I would want it if I landed abroad again.
I’ve lived your journey. Let’s meet.
Reliability. Expertise. And personal guidance that fits like a glove. No large corporate structure and getting passed off to inexperienced assistants — only direct, honest communication with an experienced expert and complete focus on your process.
